THE BJP and SAD councillors on Monday raised the issue of non-inclusion in the committees constituted by the mayor to look into the issues that they had raised in the House at the previous meeting. The councillors said either they were not included in the committees or not made chairpersons even though the issues were raised by them.
During the meeting of the general house, the councillors raised objections. In a committee constituted to look into the anomalies in the laying of pipelines,it was pointed out that councillor Saurabh Joshi was not made a member of the committee even though he was the one who had raised the issue. It was further objected that a letter was sent summoning him to appear before the committee as if he was the accused. The BJP councillors said Congress councillor Subhash Chawla who was made chairman of the committee resigned after the first meeting.
Mayor Raj Bala Malik said if the BJP councillors were not satisfied then the committee stood dissolved. The issue would be referred to the vigilance officer for investigation.
The other committees that were constituted included one for deciding the scope for the ward development fund, uniforms for the sweepers and CPWD manual. The councillors who had raised the issues were made members of the committees but not the chairpersons.
It was stated that the city was crying for provision of basic amenities including proper water supply, sanitation and tackling stray dog menace.
BJP councillor Arun Sood said a proposal mooted by him was not included in the agenda. It was pertaining to facilities for video conferencing to be provided in the MC. He had also asked for Internet connection to be provided so that the laptops could be used in the House.
