BJP organisational elections: It was a drama, I faked this conversation, says Prem Kaushik

Dhawan says Tandon manipulated committee report, will go to the high command.

A DAY after the three-member committee gave a clean chit to city BJP chief Sanjay Tandon, election incharge Prem Kaushik, whose audio mentioning discrepancies in organisational elections went viral, surfaced on Friday stating that he had faked a conversation and was doing a drama with former BJP cell convener Dalip Sharma.

“It was just a drama. I wanted to take some information out of them. That is why I agreed to what all they said. I got information on 11th that they had decided to create a ruckus during elections in district number 3 and planned to break the windowpanes as well. Being election incharge, I had to get polls conducted peacefully, so I faked this conversation,” Kaushik told Chandigarh Newsline.

He added, “Meethi meethi baaten karke maine inse baaten nikali. Bas record nahi kari (By doing a sweet talk with them, I took out information. It is just that I didn’t record the conversation).”

In the audio, Kaushik told Sharma how organisational elections were being held wrongly and he was under pressure due to Tandon.
Meanwhile, after the committee submitted its report, senior leader Harmohan Dhawan said that the committee members were Tandon’s men and the report was manipulated by him.

Dhawan’s men on Friday also approached incharge of the committee Raghubir Arora.

Talking to Chandigarh Newsline, Dhawan said, “We will go to the high command with these audios. One can easily gather from the conversation about all the wrongdoings but these people are not ready to listen. It is because Arora is vice-president of the party appointed by him only.”

However, committee incharge Arora had said that there were no discrepancies in the elections and a proper procedure was followed. Regarding Dhawan’s complaint of no leader being consulted, the committee stated that the Sanghatan Mantri or the Pradesh Prabhari had to be informed and not every person or former presidents.
