A delegation of BJPs city unit submitted a memorandum with UT Adviser K K Sharma raising issues faced by various sections of society.
Members of the delegation mentioned the recent notices to the local businessmen where they were fined Rs 500 per square feet per month. This, they stated, seemed absolutely inappropriate.
Also, the electricity department has increased the security deposit for commercial purposes. The BJP demanded the department should adjust the security amount from the initial security paid.
The delegation also raised the issue of transfer of the title to residents of the Housing Board, who have been residing there for years. Almost 80 per cent had been transferred but after 2006 such transfers were stopped. It was demanded the Administration reconsider this position and allow the residents to transfer the title on their names.
The delegation also raised the problems villagers faced. They said godowns in the villages were closing down as they were not being provided with a sales tax number. It was further pointed out that street hawkers be provided with licenses that are not being issued since the past 12 years.
Among other demands were the rolling back notices issued to local industrialists and businessmen wherein heavy penalties were imposed.
