Himachal Pradesh CM Prem Kumar Dhumal today described the railway budget as highly disappointing,and contrary to the expectations of the state.
“It’s clear that Himachal Pradesh is paying a heavy price for being a peaceful state. Only those states where separatists,terrorists and Maoists are active are getting all the backing of the Centre.”
Dhumal alleged the interest of Himachal Pradesh had been totally ignored in the budget.The centre has resorted to clear discrimination against peace loving states,which was unfortunate.
Dhumal said the Union Railway Ministers had always remained confined to their home states and not bothered about rest of the country. “Himachal could get only 33 km length of railway line in 63 years after independence,” the Chief Minister said.
Overall,a mixed response
* INLD says Haryana ignored
Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) President Ajay Chautala on Friday assailed the Union railway budget saying it had totally ignored Haryana. “It seems the budget was prepared keeping in mind elections in West Bengal,” said the MLA from Dabwali.
* Doaba region feels let down
It is not a very promising budget for the people of Doaba,said Rajya Sabha Member from Hoshiarpur,Avinash Rai Khanna. “We had demanded for Amritsar-Anandpur Sahib rail track via Garhshankar during the 2009 railway budget and it was approved then but later on the same proposal was withdrawn by the Union government,” he said,adding that this time they had expected to have the same proposal approved but there was no mention of it.
* Good news for Ferozepur division
Vishvesh Chaubey,Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ferozepur confirmed that many projects under socially desirable scheme for connecting backward areas to the main cities were sent in 2010 and after the non-lapsable fund proposed by the railway minister,these projects will be carried forward in the coming financial year.
