MOTORCYCLISTS SNATCHED gold chains of two women at Zirakpur. Both the incidents happened on Saturday but the police were yet to register cases.

The first victim was identified as Geeta Sharma, a resident of Jarnail Enclave, Phase II, on Phawat road. She had gone to a grocery shop in her locality with her grandson. While she was returning home, two youngsters stopped her and asked about an address.

“I did not know the address so I denied having an information. While I was heading towards my home, the bikers snatched my gold chain. I could not understand anything. I raised the alarm but both the snatchers fled on their bike. The man who was driving the bike was wearing a helmet while I could not see the face of the man riding pillion,” Geeta said.

In the other case, two bike-borne youths targeted another woman at Baltana in a similar fashion and took away her gold chain. The woman was identified as Nisha. She was standing outside her house when the incident occurred.

Police were yet to trace the culprits. A police officer told Chandigarh Newsline that they got some vital clues from the CCTV footage in the areas where the incidents had happened. They were trying to identify the accused and were of the view that the snatching incidents were carried out by the same culprits.

Two men had taken away gold and cash from a house at Dhakoli at knifepoint and injured a woman, Shashi Kanta, on November 8. Police failed to trace the accused. A case was registered at the Dhakoli police station.
