Bhalla barred from performing after he ‘urges’ govt to disburse salary on time

Punjab Agricultural University has barred comedian Jaswinder Singh Bhalla from performing in any film,television or private programmes.

The Punjab Agricultural University has barred comedian Jaswinder Singh Bhalla,who works as a senior agriculture extension specialist in the university,from performing in any film,television or private programmes after he,during a public function,allegedly urged the state government to disburse salaries on time.

The incident occurred at a recent function where progressive farmers and officials belonging to PAU and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University were addressed by Chief Secretary S C Aggarwal. Financial Commissioner (Development),N S Kang,Director Agriculture Mangal Singh and other senior government functionaries were also present.

During his welcome speech Bhalla said that “government should pay the salaries to the university employees on time.” He was referring to the delay in disbursement of salaries during last two months.

Following his ‘public appeal’,the PAU Vice-Chancellor,B S Dhillon revoked the permission given to Bhalla to perform and also sent him back to his parent department. Dhillon confirmed the incident but refused to divulge the details saying,“action has been taken.”
