Beetle accident: Authorities speed up construction work of bus shelter at site

(Express photos by Kamleshwar Singh) The authorities in Chandigarh have sped up the construction work of a bus shelter on the Dhanas-Sarangpur dividing road where at least three people, including two women, were killed and four others injured after a speeding Volkswagen Beetle car hit them on May 17.

A source from the area said, “A few people were standing near the vend where one of the victims, Rajvati Devi, was selling husked corn. Others were waiting for the bus when the speeding red Beetle car ran them over on May 17. They were all rushed to PGI where doctors declared one woman dead. Later, two others succumbed to injuries.”
