BECC triumph over Heavenz Cricket Club

Led by a superb first wicket partnership between Prabhjot Singh and Jashan,Black Elephant Cricket Club beat Heavenz Club by 68 runs in the league match played during the ongoing cricket tournament in Patiala.

Patiala: Led by a superb first wicket partnership between Prabhjot Singh (64) and Jashan (54),Black Elephant Cricket Club beat Heavenz Club by 68 runs in the league match played during the ongoing cricket tournament in Patiala. Winning the toss,BECC decided to bat first. The decision worked well for BECC,as they scored a good total of 218 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 30 overs. Prabhjot Singh emerged as the star for BECC by contributing an impressive knock of 64 runs. Karan Kaila played well during his useful knock of 28 runs while Sanjay Mahajan chipped in with 16 runs. For Heavenz Cricket Club,Romi bowled outstandingly to scalp five wickets for 32 runs. In reply,Heavenz Club were in trouble right from the beginning and lost five wickets with just 39 runs on the board. Despite Kulwinder’s knock of 65 runs, Heavenz Cricket Club lost the match. They were all out for 140 runs in 29.3 overs. Karan Kaila (3 for 17) and Suraj (3 for 34) were main wicket takers for the winning BECC team.

Satluj Public School book berth in U-14 final

PANCHKULA: Riding high on combined effort from Saurav Kumar (57 no) and Abhishek Bahmani (42 no),Satluj Public School,Sector 4,Panchkula,recorded a facile eight-wicket win over Saupin’s School,Sector 32,Chandigarh,in a match played during U-14 Satluj Champions Trophy at Satluj Public School in Panchkula on Monday. This was the hosts Satluj School’s third win of the tournament and they have now booked their berth in the final. Saupin’s team was bundled out for 135 runs in 30 overs while batting first. Batting second,Satluj achieved the target in 22.3 overs,losing two wickets. Saurav Kumar played a fluent unbeaten knock of 57 runs off 51 balls. He was ably supported by Abhishek Bahmani.

JP Atray tournament from September 15

CHANDIGARH: The 19th edition of the All India JP Atray Memorial cricket tournament will be held from September 15 to 25 at the PCA Stadium (Mohali),Sector 16 Cricket Stadium (Chandigarh),Tau Devi Lal Cricket Stadium,Sector 3 (Panchkula),LIC Cricket Academy,GMHS Sector 26 (Chandigarh),St.John School,Sector 26 (Chandigarh) and Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium (Patiala). The tournament will be played under the aEGIS of Punjab Cricket Association and is the curtain raiser before the start of the domestic season. A total of 16 leading teams from all over the country will take part in the tournament. The final will be played at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on September 25.

Semi-finalists spotted in dodgeball

CHANDIGARH: Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 32,Government Model High School,Mani Majra,Government Model High School,Sector 26,Police Line and Government Senior Secondary School,Raipur Khurd,beat their respective opponents to enter the semifinals in the girls section during the Chandigarh State Dodgeball Championship (Boys & Girls) at Dev Samaj Sr. Sec. School,Sector 21,Chandigarh. Earlier, chief guest Harmohinder Singh Lucky opened the tournament.
