An emergency meeting of the Panjab University Syndicate was called on Thursday to take a decision on the Cost Accounting examination of BCom-II. The House unanimously resolved that there would be no re-examination for the paper.
The House also authorised Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover to decide the quantum of grace marks to be granted to students.
The Syndicate members had earlier rejected the decision of the undergraduate board of studies of commerce of PU to award 20 grace marks to all BCom students, who had appeared for the Cost Accounting examination on April 10.
The students were stumped on April 10 when they appeared for their Cost Accounting exam,as the entire paper was based on theoretical questions, against the university rules to have 50 per cent theoretical and 50 per cent practical questions.
The students had submitted various representations to the PU authorities pressing them not to re-conduct the examination.
During the discussion, the House even proposed to reduce the grace marks from 20 to 16. Now,Grover will decide the quantum of grace marks to be given after all the papers are corrected.
Regarding the BA final year Punjabi examination and Mathematics-II exam of BA and BSC students, the House resolved that the issues involving the two papers will be considered by the respective board of studies. The university had earlier decided to cancel the exam that was held on April 17 and hold a re-examination on May 11. Now this matter will be decided by the board of studies.
