Members of the Bhartiya Balmiki Dharam Samaj today demanded the suspension of the Bhupinder Singh Hooda led government in Haryana for having failed to protect the interest of the Dalits in the state.

Addressing a press conference here, the president of the Samaj,Chandrapal Anarya, said the state government was openly siding with Jats, and the Dalits in the state were feeling the brunt of this bias.

Demanding the imposition of President’s rule in the state the members said the Dalits in Mirchpur were the most affected and were living like refugees in their own country.

They said the government had made no efforts whatsoever to bring back the Dalit families who had fled Mirchpur following the violent incident in which Jats had allegedly burnt to death two Dalits in April last year. Anarya added that the district administration had also not done anything to allay the fears of the Dalits.

He also pointed out that the state government had not made public the outcome of the meeting between the Jat leaders and the chief minister in Kaithal on the last day of the Jat protest.
