Mohali: Displaying tremendous skills,Arshita Garg of DAV School,Sector 8,outplayed Parvita of The Millennium School,Mohali,11-9,12-10,9-11,11-8 (3-1),in the final of the Cadet girls category during the Tricity inter-school table tennis championship being held at The Millennium School,Mohali. In the semifinals,Arshita (Dav-8) had beaten Vasundhra (Gurukul,Manimajra) 11-8,11-9,11-6 (3-0),while Parvita (The Millennium School,Mohali) overpowered Deevanshi Chawla (Gurukul),11-9,11-9,11-6 (3-0),to reach the final. In the Cadet boys’ quarterfinals section, Ishan Kapoor (DAV-8) got the better of Pavan Singh (DAV-8),11-7,11-6,11-9 (3-0),while Abhishek Arora (Bhavan Vidyalaya,Panchkula) prevailed over Sanchit Saini (Dav-8),11-4,12-10,14-16,11-8 (3-1),to surge ahead. Vaibhav (Manav Mangal,Panchkula) and Hrishkesh (Pkl) too had easy victories over their opponents and marched ahead in the tournament. Vaibhav beat Himanshu,11-4,11-1,11-1 (3-0) and Hrishkesh defeated Vasjot Singh (Manav Mangal,Mohali ),11-3,11-5,11-8 (3-0).

Sandeep steers HDFC to win

Chandigarh: Sandeep Saini (80) helped HDFC Ltd register an easy six-wicket victory over Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in the CII Corporate Cricket Cup at the GNPS ground in Sector 36 on Saturday. Batting first,CII were all out for 132 in 20 overs. HDFC chased down the target in 15.1 overs. In another match,FCI beat Punjab Secretariat by 68 runs. In reply to FCI’s 182 for 7,Punjab Secretariat were all out for 114 in 16 overs. In the last match,Quantum Solutions defeated Akzo Nobel by 40 runs. In reply to Quantam’s 175 for 7,Akzo Nobel were all out for 135 in 16 overs.
