Family in car has narrow escape

Ambala: Five members of a family travelling in a four-wheeler had a narrow escape after their car caught fire near Motor Market here Wednesday night. The five were on their way to Ambala Cantonment from Mohali. The cause of fire was traced to be short circuit. The car was completely damaged by the time the police and fire tenders reached the spot.

32 Ambala MC polling stations ‘hypersensitive’

Ambala: Ambala DCP Vinod Kaushik,while interacting with the media Thursday,said 32 polling stations had been declared hypersensitive and 66 as sensitive for the municipal corporation election to be held here on June 2. He said security at the polling stations has been beefed up to prevent any untoward incident from happening. Special cells would also be operating to control crimes against women,Kaushik said,adding that action would be initiated within 10 minutes of a complaint being registered.

Two more arrested for Sector 4 dacoity

Panchkula: Two more people have been arrested for the Sector-4 dacoity earlier this month in which a gang of thieves had looted the silver utensils and cash of a family. Police in a statement said two persons,identified as Rahul Sonawane and Sheikh Imran,were nabbed in connection to the case. The duo were produced in local court Thursday which remanded them to six-days police custody. Police also produced the accused persons Sujata alias Neha,Tabasum alias Tabu,Gokula Nandapatra,Anil alias Tejpal and Rajender Kaur alias Rishu that sent them to 14-days judicial custody.
