Saini takes up new BIS assignment

Chandigarh:A K Saini has taken over as deputy director general of the Northern Regional Office of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in Chandigarh. He will be monitoring the product and management certification activity of the bureau in Punjab,Himachal Pradesh,Haryana,Jammu & Kashmir,parts of UP and Chandigarh. A civil engineer,he has held assignments in standards formulation,product certification,HR and enforcement in various capacities during his tenure with BIS.

Surya Institute starts faculty programme

Chandigarh:Surya World Institution launched its five-day faculty development programme in collaboration with the Punjab Technical University,Jalandhar,on its campus at Bapror village on Monday. First in the series,the programme on ‘use of technology in teaching learning process’ was attended by faculty members from Surya World as well as the neighbouring institutions,including Chitkara University,Universal Group of Institutions,Gian Jyoti and Sukhmani Group of Institutions.

Handwashing day held at Satluj school

Chandigarh:Handwashing Day was observed at Satluj Public School,Sector 4,Panchkula. Students from various classes washed their hands to show that hygiene is very essential part of life. Students were provided soaps,sanitisers and towels from school. Also,collages and posters were made by the students to promote hygiene. The science faculty of school told the students the importance of washing hands,and highlighted the need for washing hands after and before meals.
