Five dead in separate accidents on NH-1

Ambala: Four persons including three youth were killed in separate accidents on NH 1 late Sunday night. The three youth were killed in accidents involving a vehicle ramming into a two-wheeler. Two bikers,identified as Som Nath and Kuldip Singh,were rammed by a Canter injuring both seriously. Both were rushed to the civil hospital where they were declared brought dead. The driver has been arrested. In another incident,scooterist Sunny died after a car hit his scooter. He was referred to PGI but died on the way. In a separate incident a slum dweller,Bijender succumbed to his injuries in PGI after he was run over by a truck in a hit-and-run incident. In a fifth incident between a tractor and a car,the tractor driver Dharu died on the spot after he was buried under his vehicle overturned after the accident.

Chandigarh: The 25th edition of the SJOBA Thunderbolt Sub-Himalayan Open Rally will be held from March 23 to 25. Apart from the ‘Challenge Rally,’ SJOBA is also organising an ‘Endurance Trial’. The rally carries a total prize money of about Rs 2,00,000 and is open to jeeps/gypsies,cars and bikes. The last date for entries is March 19.
