Trio get 8-month jail for attack

CHANDIGARH: A local court today awarded eight-month rigorous imprisonment (RI) to three persons for voluntarily causing hurt,wrongful restraint and rioting in an eleven-year-old case. The three accused were identified as Jagatinder Pal Singh,Ranbir Singh (both residents of Ludhiana) and Makhan Singh (Sector 21 resident). According to the police officials,the four were accused of attacking Ranjit Bajaj,son of former Punjab bureaucrat couple.

Parking contractors challaned

CHANDIGARH: Officials of the Municipal Corporation today challaned five parking contractors for violating rules. The challans followed the check by mayor Raj Bala Malik today. Checks were conducted in different parking lots in Sector 17 including Bank Square,parking lot near Gurdev Studio,Sahib Singh and Sons and Empire Store. The violations included attendants not wearing uniforms and haphazardly parked vehicles. The mayor instructed the officers concerned for marking of the parking slots and separate provision of fire tenders parking in each parking lot.

Three arrested for sodomy

CHANDIGARH: Three persons were arrested for sodomising a 13-year-old boy on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Bapu Dham residents Venkatesh,Sahil and Vikram. The trio along with another person who is reported to be a juvenile had allegedly taken the victim to a secluded spot in Manimajra on Monday where they sodomised the boy. Police have registered a case at Manimajra police station.
