Passengers of evening Kalka Shatabdi and Amritsar Shatabdi had to face lot of inconvenience as both the trains were delayed for more than an hour, after a goods train derailed near Narela and Holambi Kalan railway tracks.
The Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi (2013) was delayed by about 30 minutes and Kalka Shatabdi (2005) which started from Delhi reached late by 90 minutes.
Maintenance work was in progress on the railway tracks between Narela and Holambi Kalan, the unloading was going on to balance the lines. While the unloading was taking place,a goods train tumbled on the tracks blocking the lines, Gulshan Kumar, senior DCM said.
For some time only a single line was functional. Later, the tracks were cleared and both the lines are operational, he added. The departure time of Amritsar Shatabdi from Delhi is 4:30 pm and arrival time is 10:45pm. However, due to the delay, the train reached its destination about 30 minutes late.
Similarly,Kalka Shatabdi (2005),which started off late from Delhi was scheduled to reach Chandigarh at 8:40 pm. However, due to technical glitches, the train was delayed for 90 minutes causing a lot of inconvenience to passengers. The train had unscheduled stops.
