The Chandigarh Traffic Police Tuesday issued a traffic advisory informing the general public about special traffic regulations that will be enforced across key arterial roads in the city on December 24.

As per the advisory, traffic movement will be regulated on multiple major corridors during two peak time slots in the afternoon and evening.

The affected stretches include Dakshin Marg from Airport Light Point to Tribune Chowk, Purv Marg from Tribune Chowk to Transport Light Point, and Madhya Marg from Tribune Chowk to Transport Light Point. In addition, traffic on Madhya Marg from Transport Light Point to Fun Republic Light Point towards the Panchkula side will also remain regulated.

The restrictions will be in force during two time windows — from 2.30 pm to 4 pm and again from 7 pm to 8.30 pm. During these periods, commuters may face diversions, regulated flow, or brief stoppages depending on ground conditions and security requirements, as per the Traffic Police.

Traffic Police officials also advised commuters to plan their travel in advance, avoid unnecessary movement on the affected routes during the notified hours, and use alternative routes to prevent congestion and delays. Motorists were also urged to follow on-ground instructions issued by traffic personnel deployed along the routes.

Appealing for cooperation, the Traffic Police stated that the temporary restrictions are being implemented in the interest of smooth traffic management and public safety.
