Five people including three women were reportedly killed in separate road and rail accidents in the last 24 hours in Ambala district. Besides,bodies of three more including a woman were found in Ambala Cantonment taking the toll to eight. A teacher identified as Anchal employed with the SA Jain School Ambala was killed when a speeding truck hit her scooter. She was rushed to civil hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
Sona,a 50-year-old housewife from village Bihta,was killed after she was run over by a truck near Saha.
A youth attending a marriage in village Mohra was killed when he went for a stroll with two relatives on the NH1 on Sunday.
The incident took place when a speeding car hit them,killing Gurkeerat on the spot and leaving the other two injured.
A woman,Dayalo,56,along with her grand son Jashan,9,died after they were run over by Delhi-Amritsar Swaran Jayanti express on the Ambala-Delhi line. The woman was declared brought dead by the hospital while Jashan died during treatment. GRP handed over the bodies after a post-mortem examination.
Besides these,an unidentified body was recovered from the bushes in the fields opposite to Indian Oil Company in Ambala Cantonment. Police said,the body had marks on the neck. The body emitted foul smell which indicates that it was dumped a few days ago. Two more bodies were recovered from near the new rest house of Ambala Cantonment railway station. Investigations are on the cases.
