Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal has attacked Captain Amarinder Singh saying the Amritsar MP was trying to contest the Assembly election on his own.

During an I-Day function in Bathinda on Saturday, Sukhbir said, “Amarinder is mulling over the prospect of forming his own political outfit for this purpose and he had also threatened to quit the party. He was a betrayer who backstabbed Punjab and Punjabis. After Patiala, now Amarinder was backstabbing the people of Amritsar by crushing their aspirations and remaining absent from Parliament.”

Reacting to Amarinder’s claims that Akalis were ready to join hands with him, Sukhbir said, “It was the other way round. Many sitting Congress MLAs were ready to join the SAD.”

On the protest by CPS Navjot Kaur Sidhu and the issue of Bhagtanwala dump in Amritsar raised by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Sukhbir said, “The SAD-BJP alliance is everlasting. Bolaria was raising the public issue of his Assembly constituency, which was right of every citizen.”
