The Punjab government on Thursday announced the schedule for fixing high security registration number plates on the vehicles and said all the vehicles will have such plates in next two years.
Security registration number plates were being fixed on the new vehicles in the entire state at the time of registration but the work of putting up of such plates on old vehicles had been rescheduled, said Ajit Singh Kohar,Transport minister of Punjab. Security registration number plates will be fixed for the registration number between 0001 and 0500 in October 2012.
Likewise number plates would be fixed for 501 to 1,000 in November 2012,on 1,001 to 1,500 in December 2012,on 1,501 to 2,000 in January 2013,on 2,001 to 2,500 in February 2013,on 2,501 to 3,000 in March 2013,on 3,001 to 3,500 in April 2013. The final series of numbers between 9,501 and 9,999 will end in May 2014.
Kohar said as the central Motor vehicle Rules 1989,vehicles registered in Punjab will have high security number plates.
