Four cases of crime against women were reported in Chandigarh on Friday.
In one of the cases,a woman complained that an auto rikshaw driver misbehaved with her,forcibly trying to restrain her,following arguments between them. The incident took place on the road leading to Naya Gaon from PGI Chowk,after she boarded the auto.
A case of wrongful restraint and assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty was registered in Sector 11 police station. The accused,Ramesh Kumar was arrested on Saturday from Naya Gaon.
Another incident took place in Sector 20,where a girl alleged that her neighbour,Amit Kumar,forcibly entered her house and tried to molest her. A case was registered in the Sector 19 police station on charges of wrongful restraint,assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty,trespass and criminal intimidation. The accused was arrested and has been remanded to judicial custody.
Some youth in a Swift car were found misbehaving with girls in Sector 22. A case was registered in Sector 17 police station on the statement of a police constable on charges of using obscene acts and songs. Two accused,Aman Kambojh (25) and Munish Sharma (20),were arrested on Saturday,in connection with the case.
In yet another incident,three youth passed lewd remarks on a girl and tried to physically harass her while she was walking near her house. A case was registered in Sector 39 police station on charges of wrongful restraint and using obscene acts and songs,by the victims brother. The case is under investigation.
