Dispaying great spin bowling skills,young and talented off-spinner Akul Pandove (5 for 73) wove a web around Jalandhar batsman in the first innings to bundle them out for 225 for 86 overs in a match being played during U-16 cricket tournament for ML Markan Trophy. Jalandhar winning the toss opted to bat first and were given a rousing start by their openers A Singh (44) and AVerma (76). The opening stand realised 67 runs. Other useful contribution came from S Joshi who scored 39 runs. The bowling honours for Patiala were shared by Akul Pandove (5 for 73) and M.Markanda (2 for 39). Patiala in reply were 50 for no loss in 14 overs at close of play with S Salaria unbeaten on 25 and P Singh unbeaten on 24 at the crease.

In the second match played at GMSSS,Sector 26,between Mohali and Ropar,Mohali posted a total of 263 for 5 in 101 overs at close of first day’s play. Mohali had a disastrous start as they lost their openers with the total reading 11. Thereafter,Siddharth Rawat took control of the innings and kept one end up while wickets fell at the other end. Mohali at one stage were 131 for 5 in 43 overs,before an unbroken partnership of 132 runs for the sixth-wicket saw them reach the total of 263 for 5 at close of play. Siddharth Rawat went on to score an unbeaten ton (163) while his partner Mayank Siddhu scored an unbeaten 49. For Ropar,Raghav Bali (3 for 100) was the most successful bowler.

In the third match played at Ludhiana,hosts were bowled out for 101 in 60 overs by the Chandigarh team. Raman Bishnoi (6 for 23) and Nipun Pandita (2 for 19) engineered the Ludhiana collapse. For Ludhiana,Jaskaran (21) and Gurjot (17) were the main run getters. In reply Chandigarh made 90 runs for the loss of five wickets in 39 overs at close of play. Raman Bishnoi (49) and Jasnoor Singh (22) were the main run scorers for Chandigarh. Raghav Sharma (3 for 39) and Anmol (2 for 25) bowled well for Ludhiana.
