To curb the increasing incidents of crime in Ambala district,Police Commissioner Ambala-Kurukshetra Rajbir Deswal has launched a special drive- a new street watch campaign that aims to help policemen catch criminals involved in crimes such as snatching,looting,theft and other unlawful activities.
Deswal directed SHOs and PP in-charges to keep a eye on suspected criminals to control crime. He instructed them to remain vigilant and to conduct regular checks at sensitive locations like bridges,culverts,thoroughfares,parks and colleges.
He added that play grounds,schools and markets should be brought under regular patrolling as those are places where drunkards,smack addicts and other unsocial elements roam around,and detaining them if necessary.
With the hope of making the district a model for others in the area by maintaining law and order,he directed the police officials to work with dedication and honesty.
Stressing on the fact that a strict watch had to be kept on addicts and drunkards,Deswal said Intoxication is one of the main causes of crime and it can be controlled by taking strict measures.
