The Municipal Corporation is set to start an online system to redress grievances of people. The software for the purpose is being developed. A link of the redressal mechanism will be available on the website of the civic body. Complaints pertaining to the different departments will be forwarded to the officials concerned.
The system is likely to be put in place by the end of August. Links to different departments will be provided. Residents will be able to click on the specific department against which a complaint has to be made and register their complaints. The Corporation stated that the problems would be attended to in a time-bound manner.
The civic bodys earlier efforts to redress complaints through social networking site Facebook did not yield much results. The page created by MC became a platform for people to debate its functioning. Residents began to share their grievances about the Facebook page. In fact,people claim that no heed was paid to the problems that were posted on the site.
With one system of grievance redressal failing,the civic body has decided to give another one a shot. The modalities of how the system will work will be finalised in the coming days. The aim is to ensure that residents do not have to visit the civic body to register their problems. Complaints pertaining to water supply,sewerage,sanitation or roads requiring repairs can be made online.
Recently,the UT Administration began a similar initiative. The residents can now make their complaints regarding the Administration online. An SMS will be sent to the mobile number registered by the complainant and the complaint will be transferred to specific departments.
The progress of the complaint will be monitored by senior officials,as they have to be addressed in a time-bound manner.
