After 5 months,woman says rape case false

Over five months after she alleged that she was gangraped by three persons near Sukhna Lake,the complaint has turned out to be false.The woman had accused Patiala natives Nawab Singh,Chintu and Jeevan of raping her in a car near the lake.

Over five months after she alleged that she was gangraped by three persons near Sukhna Lake,the complaint has turned out to be false.The woman had accused Patiala natives Nawab Singh,Chintu and Jeevan of raping her in a car near the lake.

The woman has now accused a Patiala native,Amarjit Virk,of allegedly asking her to report a false rape case. Virk was brought to Chandigarh on production warrant from Patiala on Friday.

The matter dates back to November 2011,when the 45-year-old woman had alleged she was gangraped and robbed by the thee. She had paid Rs 1 lakh to them for getting a job for her son in Australia,but they did not fulfil their promise. She alleged she was called to Chandigarh and raped.

City schools mark Earth Day

CHANDIGARH: Gurukul Global School,Manimajra,on Friday completed its ‘Save Earth Week’ celebrations,which started on April 23. Students of classes IV and V participated in poster-making competition. The theme of the competition was ‘Don’t Let Earth Wither’. Students of classes II and III took part in ‘Bookmark Making Competition’ on ‘Save Mother Earth’. To mark the World Earth Day & World Water’s Day,Qudrat,the eco club of Mount Carmel School,Sector 47,organised poster-making,slogan-writing and essay-writing competitions on Friday. The topics of the competitions were ‘Say no to plastic’,‘Save water’,‘Water pollution’,‘Population explosion’,‘Deforestation’,‘Reduce,reuse,recycle’,‘Global warming’,‘Oil spills’ and ‘Clean fuel options’. Around 1,400 students of classes III to X of the school participated in this event.

Government Girls Senior Secondary School,Sector 20,on Friday observed ‘Mother Earth Day’.
