Admission dates for pre-primary classes out,process starts from December 1

Forms to be available online free of cost.

After having detailed discussions with private school principals,DPI (S) Kamlesh Kumar on Thursday released dates for the common admission process for pre-primary classes in city-based private and government schools.

For the entry-level classes,admissions will begin from December 1 onwards and children aged between three and five will be eligible for admission to pre-nursery classes. For the first time the registration forms will be available online. Parents can download the forms free of cost.

To avoid the chaos that the schools face every year during the admission days and save the parents the trouble of standing in long queues to collect admission forms,the DPI(S) made the suggestion to make the admission process online. The private schools agreed to make the admission forms available online free of cost.

The forms can be downloaded from the school’s website till December 20. The website of the education department will also have the link for the admission forms. After this,registration process will begin from December 20 onwards and December 25 will be the last day for registration.

At the time of the registration,the parents will have to give Rs 50 and the prospectus,costing Rs 100,will be given to only those who get admission.

On January 20,the results will be declared by the schools individually on their respective websites. According to officials,the schools will be giving admissions till January 25 to those who turn up at the last moment. The schools will release the second list of the results on January 29,after which admission will be given on the first-come-first-serve basis.

The other details about the timing of submitting the registration forms in the respective schools,the issue of providing 25% reserved seats to the EWS students and the number of seats available in each school will be released in a day or two by the Education Department.
