Gurdeep Singh,an accomplice of Gurdwara Santsar Trust chairman Swaroop Singh,was arrested from the district courts on Friday. He has been booked for allegedly helping a militant procure passport on fake documents and for instigating violence against government officials a month ago.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Satbir Singh confirmed the arrest and said that Gurdeep had come to the courts to meet his lawyer. We received a tip-off and reached the courts. He was arrested and brought to the Special Crime Investigation Cell in Sector 24 for interrogation, he said.
Swaroop Singh and Gurdeep Singh are allegedly close associates of pro-Khalistan terrorist Gurbhej Singh who was arrested by the Jagraon police last year. Meanwhile,the police have obtained the production warrant for Gurbhej for March 9. He is presently lodged in Ludhiana jail.
