With this album,he has started introducing himself as an international Punjabi Sufi singer. Titled Ishq Allah, singer JS Paras says his new collection is global in its
appeal because he has experimented with Sufi lyrics and Western instruments.
I have sung a lot of Punjabi songs in my first two albums. I have done folk, bhangra, celebratory and romantic numbers. So,when we were working on the third,we decided to do something new, said Paras,at the launch of this album at Chandigarh Press Club on Wednesday. His previous albums are titled India Da Munda and Sil Wali Gal. Ishq Allah,he said, happened
when video director Pardeep Singh heard his song by the same name, and encouraged him to include it in his next album.
I had,in fact, released this song earlier but Pardeep persisted, and we went on to make eight Sufi tracks in Hindi and Punjabi, said Paras, who has written, sung and composed for the album which is presented by T-Series. Not only this,he has also invested his money in its production and music videos. No points for guessing that he also features in the videos that are currently on air and on YouTube. Paras, who belongs to Delhi,is now settled in the US.
My inspiration has been my father,Bhupinder Singh Paras, and also my father-in law,Bhai Gulbag Singh, says the singer, who began his musical career in 2000,and has been a huge fan of popular Punjabi singers such as Gurdas Maan,Daler Mehndi,Sardul Sikander and Hans Raj Hans.
Come September, and Paras is all set to venture into the Punjabi film industry. He will be acting, singing, and most probably, producing a film. The finer details about the film,he said, will be revealed later.
Ishq Allahs music directors are Ajay Kumar,Parveen Sethi and Sukhpal Sukh. Famous radio jockey Shamshir Rai Luthra has rendered poetry for the album.
