Three persons,including a nine-year-old boy,were killed in two different road accidents in Zirakpur on Thursday.
In the first incident,two friends died when their car swerved out of control and hit the divider at the railway overbridge on the Zirakpur-Panchkula road. The deceased were identified as Manoj Malik,36,a resident of Sector 12-A,Panchkula,and Himanshu Tyagi,39,a resident of Rewari. According to the police,the duo were going to Zirakpur from Panchkula after dropping off Maliks wife at the Chandigarh Railway Station.
When they reached near Hotel Palmdale,the car accidentally slipped out of control and hit the divider. The impact of the collision was so much that the car was raised about 20 feet into the air and was totally mangled. While Tyagi was rushed to a private hospital in Panchkula,Malik was brought to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32. Both of them were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Malik is survived by his wife and a three-year-old son while Tyagi is survived by his wife and two daughters.
The relatives of the victims alleged that Maliks mobile phone,Tyagis wallet and the cars battery had been stolen from the accident spot.
In another incident,Vijay Kumar,9,a resident of Sukhna colony,was crushed to death when an unidentified vehicle being driven on the wrong side hit him near the Patiala Chowk on the Chandigarh-Ambala highway. Kumar was rushed to hospital but declared dead on arrival.
The police registered a case of death by negligence and rash driving against the unidentified driver.
