EFFI-CYCLE,a three-day inter-college competition on design and fabrication of an eco-friendly human-cum-electric power driven vehicle is slated to begin at University Institute of Technology (UIET),PU,on Friday.
The event, being organised by the Northern chapter of SAEINDIA (Society of Automotive Engineers INDIA) on the theme Prove the Potential, will witness 80 teams from across the country competing for an award of Rs 1 lakh.
All teams will be required to undergo an endurance run, besides evaluation on parameters of static and dynamic tests, cost and marketing presentations in the three-day event.
EFFI-CYCLE,organised every year since 2010,aims to provide opportunity to engineering students to conceive, design and fabricate a three-wheel configuration vehicle powered by human-electric power.
With the event entering its fourth year, the number of participants has also risen considerably from 17 teams in the first year,to 80 this year.
We had to shortlist 80 of the 209 teams that registered. The challenge will be much more this year, with more obstacles, said Alok Jaitely,General Manager (Body Division),Maruti Suzuki, who is also the convener of the event.
PUs inclusion among the top 250 universities of the world will also provide a major boost to the industry-academia interaction, he added.
