71-yr-old Pak patient undergoes rare surgery

A 71-year-old patient of abdominal aortic aneurysm from Pakistan,Safdar M Hayat Qureshi successfully underwent a surgery at Fortis Hospital,Mohali.

A 71-year-old patient of abdominal aortic aneurysm from Pakistan,Safdar M Hayat Qureshi successfully underwent a surgery at Fortis Hospital,Mohali. Aortic Aneurysm is a disease of the Aorta,the largest artery in human body that originates from heart and extends down to abdomen. Aorta is responsible for supplying oxygenated blood to all parts of the body hence any disease in this artery can be life threatening for the patient.

Team led by Vascular Surgeon Dr Ravul Jindal,Dr Jagmohan Verma Cardiologist and anesthetist Dr Adarsh Swami successfully conducted the procedure.

Dr Ravul Jindal,Head,Vascular & Endovascular Surgery,said,“If not treated timely,patient can lose his life because of a rupture. He explained that smokers are at a higher risk of falling prey to aortic aneurysm than non-smokers. This disease targets men five to 10 times more often than in women.”

The patient was given minimal invasive treatment for Aortic Aneurysm Endo Vascular Stenting.
