A 55-year-old tuberculosis patient was found burnt to death on Tuesday morning near Sector 19 post office.

A 55-year-old tuberculosis patient was found burnt to death on Tuesday morning near Sector 19 post office.

The victim has been identified as Varinder Kumar. He had been staying in Sector 19 with his daughter. The police have ruled out foul play and termed it an accidental death.

The police suspected that the victim was burnt after a lit beedi fell on his clothes. His clothes were also reported to have some alcohol on them which helped the fire spread. No foul play is being suspected. However,the exact cause is yet to be established.

Kumar had left his house on Monday evening and his partially burnt body,which was in a sitting position,was spotted by a passer-by who informed the police.

According to police,the victim was under some depression and would often stay away for nights from his house. On Monday,when he did not return,his daughter did not suspect anything. She searched for him on Tuesday morning.
