401 get degrees at annual convocation of GC-46

As many as 401 degrees were conferred at the 25th Annual Convocation of Post Graduate Government College,Sector 46,on Saturday. UT Home-cum-Education Secretary,Ram Niwas,was the chief guest while Director,Higher Education,Ajoy Sharma,was the guest of honour at the function.

Delivering the convocation address,Niwas said our education system needs to impart the right kind of education and knowledge to students,so that they can excel in their respective fields. He said the role of teachers is very crucial in today’s society,as teachers can transform the whole personality of students. Niwas urged the students to develop a positive approach towards life and be a good and responsible citizen. He said faith on oneself is the foremost thing to be an achiever in life as well as at workplaces. He touched upon various other issues,including fundamental rights and duties,respect for women,time management and traffic rules. Later,he gave away prizes to the students for their outstanding performance in academics and other extra-curricular activities. Principal J S Raghu presented the annual college report highlighting the major achievements of the college.
