4 female cadets from Punjab’s Mai Bhago preparatory institute selected to defence academies

Congratulating the cadets, minister Aman Arora said their achievement will inspire more young women from Punjab to pursue careers as commissioned officers in the defence services.

The Punjab Government’s Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls in SAS Nagar (Mohali) has achieved another milestone with four of its cadets being selected to pre-commission training academies including the National Defence Academy (NDA), Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Officers’ Training Academy.

Cadets Nancy Shokhanda, Nisha, Diksha and Harsimrat Kaur have been selected as per the final merit list of the academies. Nancy Shokhanda, who will be joining the NDA, is the daughter of Swarnjeet Kaur Nijjer, the principal of a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Punjab.

Nisha, who is set to join the Indian Naval Academy, is the daughter of Dinesh Chander, senior assistant at Punjabi University, Patiala.
