Mohali Police have booked three persons for fraud after they allegedly duped a Sector 68 resident of Rs 7.8 lakh,promising to send him abroad. Two of the accused – Amandeep Sandhu and Mohan Aggarwal – have been arrested,while the third accused Vikas Malhotra is absconding. Sandhu and Aggarwal were produced in a local court on Monday and sent to judicial remand.
According to police,the victim Swaran Singh,who runs a cab business in Mohali,paid Rs 7.8 lakh to the accused. They allegedly acted as agents and promised to facilitate his visa. However,they did not keep their promise once they received the money.
The trio has been booked for criminal breach of trust,criminal conspiracy and cheating under sections 406,420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code. Gurjit Singh,Station House Officer said the accused had several cases of fraud registered against them in the Tricity and New Delhi.
