Three days after his mentally unstable wife left their two daughters four-year-old Nisha and three-year-old Sania outside a temple in Sector 30,Hari Chand reunited with them at the Mother Teresas home in Sector 23 on Sunday.
My wife had taken the children to a relatives house three days ago. In the evening, she returned alone. When I asked about our daughters, she couldnt recall where she had left them, Chand, who runs a tea stall in Bapudham colony, said.
The police said the children were found crying outside the temple. When we asked them about their parents, they said their father had made them sit here and gone to get candies, a police officer said.
We produced them before a magistrate, who ordered them under the care of Mother Teresas home. We got the medical examination of the girls done after taking them to the home, the Station House Officer of the Industrial Area police station Yashpal Sharma said. At the Mother Teresas home, the children were ill at ease. They wanted to go home. The younger one was missing her mother too much. We gave them extra care. They took their meals properly and slept well, an official at the home said.
DSP (east) J S Cheema said: We have verified Hari Chand. He is the father of the girls. Now we will move an application in the court tomorrow to hand over the custody of the sisters to their father.
