211 drug peddlers arrested in 10 months: Panchkula police

As many as 211 drug smugglers were arrested in the first ten months of 2025 and 107 cases registered compared to 156 arrests and 99 cases registered in the consecutive period last year, Panchkula police said.

Police said during the given period, they seized 11.96 kg of opium, 15.72 kg of charas, 239 kg of poppy husk, over 65 kg of ganja, 1.48 kg of heroin and around 18,000 restricted tablets.

Police said drugs worth crores of rupees were destroyed at a hygiene factory in Bagwala.

The seized material, related to 99 cases, included 62 kg of ganja, 88 kg of poppy husk, 9 kg of opium plants, 2.4 kg of opium, 1.6 kg of charas, 417 gm of heroin, 0.69 gm of cocaine, and 4,240 intoxicant tablets.

“Police also bulldozed properties acquired through drug money belonging to four accused, Mohan (Khark Mangoli), Krishan and Ramkumar (Pinjore), and Geeta (Kalka). Several other traffickers are under investigation, and similar actions will follow soon,” a police officer said.

“Intensifying the campaign, anti-narcotics units, comprising 30 officers, have been established at all 10 police stations. These units are not only acting against traffickers but also conducting awareness drives and motivating youth to choose education and sports over addiction,” the police officer said.

Main supplier of over one quintal poppy husk seizure arrested

The main supplier involved in the trafficking of one quintal and 16 kg of poppy husk, Uday Lal alias Rajasthani (34), a resident of Chittorgarh district in Rajasthan, was sent to judicial custody by a court, Panchkula police said.

Police said acting on a tip-off on October 24, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Panchkula police had arrested truck driver Joginder Singh, a resident of Matanhel village in Jhajjar district, and his accomplice Vikas Singh, after recovering one quintal and 16 kg of poppy husk from their vehicle near Golpura village.

According to DCP (Crime) Manpreet Singh Sudan, the duo was transporting the contraband from Rajasthan to Himachal Pradesh for sale when they were intercepted by the Anti-Narcotics Cell team.

The DCP said a case under the NDPS Act was registered at the Raipur Rani police station, and both accused were remanded to eight days of police custody to trace the main supplier.

Based on leads obtained during their interrogation, police arrested Uday Lal in Rajasthan on October 30, the officer said.

“Uday Lal has been sent to judicial custody, while the two earlier arrested accused remained on police remand till November 2. Police are now investigating to identify the intended recipients of the large consignment in Himachal Pradesh,” the DCP added.
