Tuesday being the last day for comments, around 200 people submitted their suggestions and objections to the draft Master Plan. A discussion would be held after these are compiled.
The draft Master Plan was notified in July this year. Earlier, the residents were given a month to submit their observations. However, there was a demand for extending this limit. Following this, the last date was extended to September 10. The Master Plan outlines the development in the city till 2031.
Several people have objected to the implementation of Apartment Act in the city. This would have facilitated floor-wise sale of property. The Master Plan has proposed redensification in the first phase sectors and implementation of the Apartment Act as a solution to the problem of housing in the wake of lack of space in the city.
Suggestions have been received from the villages for changes that the villagers want in the draft. Separate bylaws have also been prepared for the villages. City residents have also made observations about the need for improvement in the traffic situation. With the vehicular density on the rise, residents opine that there is a need for better management. The Master Plan has made suggestions for improving public transport facilities as well as encouraging cycling. Solutions for parking problem are also being demanded by residents.
Another objection raised by the residents is that the projections in the Master Plan are made on basis of the population projection of 2001. However since the Census data is available, this should be kept in view.
