Senior members of the Revenue Patwar Union,Punjab met Additional Director General of Police Punjab Sumedh Singh Saini on Friday following which the Vigilance Bureau has written to Chief Secretary S C Aggarwal to conduct an inquiry against SSP,Vigilance,Jalandhar,Surijit Singh Grewal and SSP Vigilance,Patiala,Shiv Kumar.

The union had launched protests following the ‘alleged wrongful arrest’ of union’s vice president Mohan Singh by the DSP,vigilance,Muktsar on February 18.

The vigilance bureau claimed that Mohan had helped sell paddy worth Rs 2.65 crore, which belonged to PUNSUP. Following his arrest, the union launched a state wide stir. A reinvestigation in this case was ordered, which was conducted by SSP,vigilance,Amritsar,Rav Charan Singh Brar. The inquiry concluded that Mohan was innocent. As a first corrective step the VB chief ordered suspension of DSP,vigilance,Banarsi Das.

Mohan, meanwhile, said that the masterminds behind the entire episode “SSP,Vigilance,Jalandhar,Surijit Singh Grewal and SSP Vigilance,Patiala,Shiv Kumar are still out of the net. I was picked up from my home by DSP,vigilance,Muktsar,Jagdish Singh Bhanju. He took to me to Moga and I was locked up in the office of Banarsi Das where at about five in the evening Grewal walked in. He identified himself as Deputy Director IB and began pressurizing me not to ask for information against SSP,Patiala,Shiv Kumar, which I had applied for through an RTI application. He even wanted me to withdraw my complaints against Shiv Kumar’s marriage palace.”

Mohan added that when he refused to buckle under the pressure, these officers “removed my clothes and asked a policeman to remove his and then took vulgar pictures of ours. The officers said they will release these pictures on the net and kill me if I did not fall in line.”
