The Chandigarh Police claimed to a have solved several cases of burglaries with the arrest of two members of a six-member gang,who has been active in the region for the past few years.
According to police,on November 14,2011,a theft had taken place in Manimajra after which the police managed to arrested the prime accused Dharam Raj alias Dhama,a resident of Mauli Complex on February 11. During his questioning he disclosed that he along with Lakhan,Ramkesh,Dharma,Dharmender alias DM and Sonu Bakriwala committed the burglary along with other accused.
Based on his disclosure Dhama and Lakhan were arrested on February 13 along with stolen taps. During further questioning,Dhamma and Lakhan confessed to have committed nine thefts and burglaries in various areas of Chandigarh,Haryana and Punjab. These include three shops in Sector 15,Chandigarh,a shop in Sector 22,shops in Sector 11,Panchkula,Mohali Yamunanagar and Pinjore. 5 held with arms at Kala Gram
In a separate incident,police arrested five people with weapons from the back side of Kala Gram while they were planning a rob a jewellery shop in NAC market. They have been identified as Jatinder,Kallu,Nepali and Kunwarpal. The fifth accused Sonu Bakriwala managed to flee from the spot. The police recovered a country made pistol along with five live cartridges from Kunwar Pal. A knife and two swords were also recovered.
