Some eyewitnesses have told the police that the driver ,who is among the injured persons, had overtaken an HRTC bus just a few minutes before the accident and perhaps tried to speed the vehicle, the DC revealed. In the process he (driver) is understood to have lost control and the bus rolled down nearly 50 feet into the gorge.
Rescue parties and medical teams rushed to the spot and faced difficulty in removing passengers from the crushed vehicle. They used gas cutters to rescue some of the passengers .
Only a few weeks back,43 people, including 32 members of a marriage party, were killed in two separate accidents in Chamba. Five persons had died in another accident in the same district last week.
