The BJP MLA from Unjha, Narayan Patel, sat on a three-hour dharna in the town Sunday against alleged police atrocities during the recent violence following a Patidar rally.

Narayan sat on dharna from 4 pm to 7 pm. The protest was organised by Unjha Vepari Mandal. Talking to The Indian Express, Patel said, “It was to protest against police booking innocent people in criminal cases and imposing harsh penal sections like 307 (attempt to murder) and 436 (arson).”

“Not a single policeman got injured, not a single policeman was admitted to hospital (in Unjha) and yet innocent people have been booked,” he said. When asked why he was protesting against the BJP government, the four-time MLA said, “This (protest) is not against the government, but for justice to Patels.”
