Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his foreign policy and the measures to fight corruption, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday gave him a rating of 8 on a scale of 10, and said he is trying his “best to serve the people of the country”.

Patnaik’s praise holds significance since it comes amid talk of growing BJD-BJP bonhomie ahead of the 2024 elections, both for Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly. While the support of Patnaik’s BJD has been crucial to the BJP at the Centre in the passage of Bills such as the NCT legislation on Delhi, in Odisha both parties have been at loggerheads with the BJP being the principal opposition party.
