Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Monday invited stand-up comedians Munawar Faruqui and Kunal Kamra to hold a comedy show in Bhopal.
Singh, a former chief minister, tweeted on Monday: “I will organise a show for you Kunal and Munawar in Bhopal. All responsibility would be mine. The only condition is that the subject of comedy will be Digvijaya Singh… Give the date and time as per your convenience…”
Responding to Singh, Kamra tweeted, “Sir thank you for the kind invitation. Checking if we have life insurance and getting back to you ASAP”.
Faruqui first hit the headlines after his arrest in January this year based on a complaint by Hindu groups accusing him of hurting religious sentiments during a show in Indore. Kamra’s show in Bengaluru recently was also cancelled.
BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma said, “Digvijaya Singh is wishing to invite Pakistani’s terrorist to his home… Those who disrespect Lord Ram and Sita and our country will not be allowed to hold a show in Bhopal and MP.”
