Young accountant from Odisha found dead on railway track

Police said the victim's body was found in a highly mutilated state and was run over by a train.

Body of a 30-year old accountant, who died under mysterious circumstances, was found on a railway bridge near Munnekolala at the Varthur road on the outskirts of Bangalore on Monday morning.

The deceased, identified as Sagar Pattanayak, is a native of Bhubaneshwar in Odisha and a resident of a paying guest facility in the vicinity of the railway line at Marthahalli, police officials said citing documents obtained from the victim.

He was employed as an accountant at private firm. Police said the victim’s body was found in a highly mutilated state and was run over by a train on Sunday night. However, police are yet to ascertain if the death was a suicide, accident or a homicide. The body of the victim was shifted to Bowring Hospital and Varthur police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the matter.
