Another woman’s body found at Bengaluru railway station; the third in 3 months

Another woman’s body found at Bengaluru railway station; the third in 3 months

In the third incident in as many months, the Railway Police Force (RPF) Monday found a decomposed body of an unidentified woman in a plastic storage drum at Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal.
RPF personnel at the terminal became suspicious after they found a foul smell coming from an unattended drum next to an automatic sliding door and informed the Baiyappanahalli police at around 7.30 pm.
When the drum was cut open, the police found the woman’s body. The forensic and fingerprint experts were called to collect the samples.
This is the third incident in Bengaluru where a woman’s dead body has been found abandoned in a railway station. “We definitely see a pattern and suspect the same person might have committed it,” said an RPF officer.
On January 4, the decomposing body of a woman aged around 20 was found in a blue drum abandoned at the end of platform number 1 of the Yeshwanthpur Railway Station.
In the second week of December, another body of a woman was found in a yellow sack in one of the unreserved coaches of Bangarapet-Sir M Visvesvaraiah Terminal, Baiyappanahalli MEMU Special. It was found dumped with other luggage.
However, the police are yet to get any leads in the previous two cases. They have sent photos to various police stations in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to check for missing complaints.

On April 9, 2022, the Orvakal police station in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh registered a murder case after a body of a woman aged around 25 to 35 in a blue drum was found abandoned on National Highway 40.
The police tried to look for possible clues as it was similar to the incidents that took place in Bengaluru but did not find anything. The case remains unsolved.
