Woman jumps off moving Rapido bike to escape ‘sexual harassment’ by driver in Bengaluru
The woman later told the police that she had booked a Rapido bike to Indiranagar but after the ride started, the driver started moving towards Doddaballapur.
Laxmi Prasad, DCP (North East), said, "The accused has been identified as a native of Hyderabad. He has been booked under IPC Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman)." The accused has been sent to judicial custody, the police said.
A 30-year-old architect had to jump off a moving motorcycle in Bengaluru after the driver of the app-based bike she had booked allegedly sexually harassed her. The incident happened around 11.30 pm near BMS College in Bengaluru on April 21. The police said the accused has been arrested.
The police added that the incident was caught on a nearby CCTV camera which led them to the accused. The woman reportedly told the police that she had booked a Rapido bike to Indiranagar but after the ride started, the driver started moving towards Doddaballapur. According to the woman, the driver was inebriated and was riding a different motorcycle than what was shown on the app.
She further told the police that she was groped by the driver who had also reportedly taken her phone from her on the pretext of checking the OTP of the ride.

Meanwhile, Rapido is yet to issue a statement on this.
