Teenage girl, 4 friends apprehended for murder of girl’s mother in Bengaluru

The elder sister of the victim found her body when she went to check on her on October 27, after calls to the victim went unanswered.

Initially, a case of unnatural death was registered by the police on October 27, as the body was found hanging from the ceiling. The last rites of the woman were conducted by the extended family without the presence of the woman’s teenage daughter, who had disappeared.

With her niece missing for two days after the body was discovered, the elder sister of the deceased filed a missing person complaint on October 29.

On the afternoon of October 30, the teenage girl reached her aunt’s house and claimed that she had run away from home after she was threatened into silence by her boyfriend and three of his friends, who had strangled her mother.

According to the police complaint filed by the aunt, the teenager told her, that on October 25, her friends, including her boyfriend, visited their home when her mother was asleep at night.

However, the mother woke up suddenly and found the boyfriend and his friends at the house and threatened to call the police.

“When mom told me to call the police station about my friends, they strangled her with a towel and suffocated her, then dragged her to the room. They showed me a knife and threatened me to keep quiet about this matter,” the teenager is reported to have told her aunt, as per the second police complaint filed by the aunt alleging murder.

The aunt grew suspicious of the version narrated by her niece and informed the police that she suspected her niece as well of involvement in the murder.

The police investigation of the teenage girl revealed that she was an active participant in the murder. The police have found that the motive for the murder was the mother’s objection to the teenager’s association with her boyfriend and his friends.

The police probe found that after the murder, the teenage girl was provided shelter at the home of a close relative of the boyfriend.
