Siddaramaiah junks ‘Vastu’, reopens south door of Karnataka CMO shut for years
The south door had been closed for the last few years due to 'Vastu' reasons. But Siddaramaiah ordered the staff to open the door immediately and entered and exited the office through it.

“Why is this door closed?” Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked his staff pointing to the south door of his office on the third floor of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru Saturday for a review of the Congress government’s Anna Bhagya scheme.
An official informed him it had been closed for the last few years due to ‘Vastu’ (traditional Indian architectural system) reasons, and it would not be auspicious for the chief minister to go through the door. A few chief ministers in the past reportedly believed that opening the south door of the chamber would harm their political careers.
However, disregarding the advice, Siddaramaiah ordered the staff to open the door immediately and entered the office through it. He also took the same door to exit after the meeting.
Known as an atheist, Siddaramaiah later said, “A clean conscience, pro-people approach, good air and light in the room are needed for better ‘Vastu’, nothing else.”
He also put out a tweet in Kannada, roughly translated to: “Opened the south door of the chief minister’s office in Vidhana Soudha, which was closed for the last five years due to structural defects, Entered the office through the same door. There is no better vastu if the room has good ventilation and light. If the deed and words are pure, then everything will be auspicious. May the blessings of people be upon us.”
