Bengaluru security guard wanted to target Pakistan Army, arrested on ‘terror’ charges

A special team was formed to trace Mallick. “We initially took him into custody and while scanning his mobile phone, we found that he was in contact with a person who claimed to be a member of the TTP,” claimed an official. “That person is based in Afghanistan”.

According to the preliminary investigation, Mallick came to Bengaluru in December 2025 and found work as a security guard. Officials said he subsequently applied for a passport in the city and for a visa to Afghanistan, but did not travel there.

Police said Mallick told investigators that financial constraints and family dispute had prevented him from pursuing his plans.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Electronics City) M Narayana said Mallick was in contact with one Imran Haider, an Afghan national who claimed to be a TTP member, through Facebook. “He wanted to help Haider retaliate against the Pakistan Army as he believed that they were carrying out atrocities against civilians….,” he added.

“He appears to have been acting as a ‘fund raiser’ against those who were troubling Muslims in other countries,” a police officer claimed.

Police claimed Mallick’s Facebook posts and chats were about Muslims in Palestine who had suffered injustice because of Israel’s actions, and that he was opposed to the attack on Iran.

Police have booked Mallick under charges of conspiring or attempting to commit, or advocate, abet, advise or incite, directly or knowingly facilitate the commission of a terrorist act or any act preparatory to the commission of a terrorist act of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Asked why Mallick had been booked under provisions relating to terrorist acts, a police officer said he had allegedly also expressed an intention to target Indians if any harm was caused to Muslims.

Mallick has been taken into police custody for 10 days and is now being interrogated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other central agencies.
